Research Trials in Veterinary Oncology
Cancer can be an issue for all dogs regardless of breed or mix, not just Tibetan Terriers. According to the Veterinary Cancer Society, one in four dogs (regardless of breed) will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. The numbers are even higher for elderly dogs; almost 50% of dogs over the age of 10 will develop cancer according to the AVMA.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN IT IS TIME?
No matter how long they are with us, it is never long enough. Even though Tibetan Terriers are a relatively long-lived breed, owners may find themselves facing decisions toward the end of their beloved companion’s life. We’re often asked “Will I know when it’s time?” Although these questions and decision are best posed to your veterinarian, some owners have found “How Will I Know When It’s Time”, and “Honoring the Bond: Support for Pet Owners” from Ohio State University to be helpful.
THE TTCA HEALTH & GENETICS COMMITTEE
The TTCA Health & Genetics Committee strives to help Tibetan Terriers lead longer, healthier lives by advancing Tibetan Terrier health interests, providing support to owners, educating the breed fancy, and promoting open communication about health issues. Please feel free to reach out to a member of the committee.
